Fast Facts: Cole Whitt

Cole Whitt, currently competing part-time in both the Nationwide and Sprint Cup Series, got his start in go-karts before moving on to bigger and better things. Learn more about Whitt in this week’s Fast Facts.

• Cole Whitt was born June 22, 1991 in Alpine, California. He is the cousin of driver Brandon Whitt, who has competed in all three of NASCAR’s top-tier divisions.
• Whitt began his racing career on two wheels, racing BMX bikes at age 5. He later competed in go-karts, winning numerous International Karting Federation and World Karting Association titles before moving into sprint cars in 2004. In 2006, Whitt was the Hoosier Sprint Car Rookie of the Year, following that up with 34 top 10 finishes in 60 starts in 2007. In 2008, Whitt became the youngest USAC National Midget Champion and also won the famous Hut Hundred race, while in 2009 he won 17 times in USAC Silver Crown, Sprints and Midgets.
• Whitt made his NASCAR debut in 2010, competing in the Camping World East Series (now K&N Pro Series East), Camping World Truck Series and Nationwide Series. In his East Series debut, he won the pole and finished third at Greenville-Pickens Speedway in South Carolina.
• In 2011, Whitt competed full-time in the Truck Series, finishing ninth in points with one pole and 11 top 10 finishes. In 2012, Whitt joined JR Motorsports in the Nationwide Series, finishing seventh in points with 14 top 10 finishes. In 2013, Whitt raced part-time schedules in both the Nationwide and Sprint Cup Series, racing for TriStar Motorsports and Swan Racing, respectively.
