Fast Facts: Alon Day

NASCAR Whelen Euro Series driver Alon Day is the first Euro Series driver to be chosen as a member of the NASCAR Next program. Learn more about this up-and-coming international star in this week’s Fast Facts.
  • Alon Day was born Nov. 4, 1991 in Ashdod, the sixth-largest city in Israel. After receiving a go-kart driving course as a birthday present at age 10, Day began his professional career, finishing second in his first race. He went on to win more than 60 races and titles in Israel.
  • In 2008, Day switched his focus to the Asian Formula Renault Series, going on to win the championship in 2009 with six wins and four poles in 14 races. He went on to spend time in the German Formula Three Championship, Formula 3 Euro Series and Austrian Formula Three Series before joining the Indy Lights Series in 2012 for six races.
  • Day spent two seasons in the FIA GT Series (2013-2014) before moving up to the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series with CAAL Racing in 2015. In 12 races, Day won three times and earned two poles on his way to a runner-up finish in points and the Rookie of the Year trophy. He rejoined the team for 2016, and so far has two wins in eight races this season.
  • In March 2010, Day was to have enlisted in the Israeli Defense Forces, but a special committee of the Israeli Army and Ministry of Sport granted him status as a prominent athlete, enabling him to continue his pro driver career.
