Kyle Busch earned his fourth victory of the Gander Outdoors Truck Series season on Friday night at Texas Motor Speedway, leading 97 of 147 laps during the Vankor 350.

Busch held off Stewart Friesen by 1.269-seconds for his 55th career GOTS win and fourth victory at the 1.5-mile track.

“Those guys were able to keep up with us just way too much throughout the night,” Busch said. “You know, it’s a better race that way when they’re able to keep up. That means we need to go to work and work harder in order to get ourselves faster.”

Johnny Sauter finished third, Grant Enfinger finished fourth after scoring the Stage 1 win, and Matt Crafton rounded out the top 5.

There was four cautions in the first 40 laps of Friday night’s event, including spins by Busch’s teammates Todd Gilliland and Harrison Burton.

Gilliland spun on Lap 4 after slight contact with the No. 45 of Ross Chastain. Gilliland finished 14th, while Chastain finished seventh.

Burton wasn’t as fortunate on Lap 12 when he smacked the wall and suffered significant damage to his No. 18 Hunt Brothers Pizza Toyota. He was unable to continue, resulting in 31st place finish.

Angela Ruch and Gus Dean brought out the third caution of the night. The two drivers made contact going into Turn 2. Ruch’s day ended, while Dean continued but finished 29th after crashing on Lap 27.

Anthony Alfredo was running sixth at the start of Stage 2, when he made contact with Friesen and spun before hitting the outside wall of Turn 1.

Alfredo’s Toyota erupted into flames and red flagged the event for over 15 minutes.

Brett Moffitt finished 19th after leading 33 laps. Moffitt made contact with Ben Rhodes and was forced to pit for tires. He went two laps down and was unable to regain them with 21 laps to go.
“The No. 24 (Moffitt) was who I was really worried about and then something happened to him and then (Friesen) was really fast and on our tailgate the whole finish of that race until about the last five laps,” Busch said.

A Look Ahead

The Gander Outdoors Truck Series have the entire month of April off before they return to Dover International Speedway on May 3, 2019.

Sauter earned his second win of the season one-year ago at the track after leading 137 laps in an overtime finish.

Can Sauter do it again? Will another veteran secure their way into the playoffs?

Find out on Friday, May 3rd at 5 p.m/ET on Fox Sports 1.
