NASCAR Nation rests while Robby Gordon treks south of the border
While NASCAR Nation takes a weekend breather early in the 2010 season, Robby Gordon is scheduled to run in the SCORE international off-road racing series in San Felipe. Gordon was the 1996 overall winner and came in second in last year’s race.
This San Felipe 250 looks to have one of the top five highest draws for entries in the event’s history. The organizers are predicting as many as 275 entries for 28 Pro and 6 Sportsman classes.
The event begins with a 6a.m. (PT) green flag for the motorcycle and ATV classes with car and truck classes beginning at around 10a.m. (PT). To be an official finisher, racers must complete the 248-mile course in 11 hours and make all 16 checkpoints along the way.
San Felipe is 120 miles south of the U.S. border and at the northern tip on the Sea of Cortez, which separates Baja California from mainland Mexico.
