TV Schedule April 9-11

Phoenix race

NASCAR will be racing in the desert this weekend as the Sprint Cup and Nationwide series head to Phoenix International Raceway.

The 1-mile track has a unique tri-oval shape. Phoenix is a flat but fast track, with a banking of 11 degrees in Turns 1 and 2 and 9-degree banking in Turns 3 and 4.

The Nationwide Series will take to track Friday and the Sprint Cup Series will run Saturday. If Saturday's race feels a little longer, it's not your imagination. Because of a push for standard start times, the race will begin an hour earlier than normal, at 7:30 p.m. ET. As a result, the spring race was extended from 312 laps to 375 laps, an additional 100 miles, ensuring the race will end under the lights.
