Fast Facts: Trevor Bayne

Trevor Bayne, driver of the Wood Brothers #21 Motorcraft/Quick Lane Ford Fusion, surprised everyone with his strong on track performances during Speedweeks in Daytona.  He completed this amazing week by becoming the 2011 Daytona 500 Champion.
  • Bayne was born February 19, 1991 in Knoxville, Tennessee. He began racing at the age of five and has over 300 career wins and 18 titles – three of which are World Karting Association championships.
  • In 2004 and 2005, he raced in the Allison Legacy Series earning the following: Rookie of the Year (2004) and the Series Championship (2005).
  • In 2006, he moved to the USAR Pro Cup Series Southern Division and won Rookie of the Year honors.
  • In 2008, Bayne signed a development driver contract with Dale Earnhardt Inc. and competed in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East; he finished second in the Toyota All-Star Showdown at the beginning of the new year.  
  • In 2009, Bayne entered his first NASCAR Nationwide Series race for Means Racing in the #52, and later entered eight races for Michael Waltrip Racing in the #99 Toyota Camry.
  • In September 2010, Bayne left Michael Waltrip Racing and signed with Roush Fenway Racing. The following month he competed in his first Sprint Cup Series race (AAA Texas 500) at Texas Motor Speedway for the Wood Brothers.  He started in the 28th position and finished the race in the 17th position.
  • In 2011, Bayne is scheduled to compete in seventeen Sprint Cup races for the Wood Brothers and will run a full schedule for Roush Fenway Racing in the Nationwide Series piloting the #16 Ford Mustang while racing to capture the series title. 
  • On February 20, 2011, approximately one day after his 20th birthday, Bayne made history by unexpectedly becoming the youngest winner in NASCAR's top tier series to win the Daytona 500. (This is Bayne's first win after only his second Sprint Cup start)
