Nominees for 2012 Hall of Fame to be announced Tuesday
The 25 nominees for the 2012 class of the NASCAR Hall of Fame will be announced Tuesday, April 19, on NASCAR Race Hub on SPEED. Host Steve Byrnes will reveal the list of those chosen for consideration to the third class beginning at 7 p.m. ET.
Voting for the five inductees to the 2012 class will be held in October, and the inductees will be enshrined in the NASCAR Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony in January 2012 on SPEED. The network also will carry the 2011 NASCAR Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, honoring Lee Petty, Bud Moore, Ned Jarrett, David Pearson and Bobby Allison, May 23, 2011, at 8 p.m. ET, preceded by live pre-event coverage on NASCAR Race Hub at 7 p.m. ET.
LEE PETTY SPECIAL: SPEED will air a one-hour special on 2011 NASCAR Hall of Fame inductee Lee Petty Friday at 8:30 p.m. ET. Petty’s story is told through the eyes of wife Elizabeth, played by an actress re-enacting scenes from Lee’s office in Randleman, N.C. Elizabeth narrates the evolution of Petty from a weekend warrior to a NASCAR champion and his reluctant decision to retire and oversee his son Richard’s racing success. Interviewees include Richard Petty, Maurice Petty, Kyle Petty, Jim Reed, Marvin Panch, Buddy Baker, Junior Johnson and Rex White.
