NNS: Kyle Busch wins Royal Purple 200 at Darlington

The track nicknamed "Too Tough to Tame" and "The Lady in Black" saw her fair share of action in the Nationwide Series Royal Purple 200. Stripes were given out to many cars: Kyle Busch, Kasey Kahne, Carl Edwards and Reed Sorenson, just to name a few who dared to tangle with the walls of Darlington Raceway.

Kyle Busch emerged victorious, but not without competition from the field. Kasey Kahne led twice for a total of  42 laps and Elliott Sadler led three times for a total of 23 laps.

Qualifying was rained out earlier today, setting the field by practice speeds. Kyle Busch started from the pole position.

The race featured "the Big One"; though that term is typically reserved for restrictor plate racing, it it appropriate for the action seen at Darlington. On lap 96, a multi-car caution/wreckfest occurred involving the cars of Brian Scott, Aric Almirola, Mike Bliss, Brad Keselowski, Clint Bowyer, Kasey Kahne, Carl Edwards and Ryan Truex. Brian Scott took a hard hit on the inside retaining wall; thankfully there was a SAFER barrier in place where he hit. (Keselowski, Almirola, Bliss and Scott were unable to continue after the crash.)

Also of note, James Hylton at the age of 76 became the oldest driver to compete in one of NASCAR's top three divisions. Hylton, who has been driving since 1964, only made two laps before parking his ride.
