Bodine’s Future Unknown

It’s a sad state of affairs when the defending NASCAR Camping World Truck Series champion is without a sponsor, but that’s exactly where Todd Bodine finds himself. Thursday at Kentucky Speedway, Bodine, who is a two-time series champion, made light of not having a sponsor for several upcoming events. Although he’s still looking for the funding, it doesn’t appear that the No. 30 team at Germain Racing will be going to Iowa or Nashville unless a last-minute sponsorship deal comes through.

Bodine may be able to bounce back from his current 13th place in the standings with a win tonight at the Sparta, Ky., track. Bodine is the defending race winner and starts from the 20th position.

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen a defending champion struggling to find a ride. After his win in 2009, Johnny Benson found himself in the same situation. These days Benson acts as a mentor for up and coming drivers and occasionally finds himself in the booth calling the races.

UPDATE: Bodine finished fourth in Thursday's UNOH 225 race at Kentucky.
