Trevor Bayne is the youngest driver to win the Daytona 500 in February in a lucky opportunity to run the Wood Brothers No. 21 car. He had qualified in the third spot and maintained a good run until the win. Because of the new points system, he didn't earn Sprint Cup points to date. He has not won a race in Sprint Cup since nor in his Nationwide car as of yet. After taking a few weeks off for treating an illness which led to hospitalization in the Mayo Clinic, the chances of contending for a Nationwide championship are slim, even though he's sitting 14th in points. Bayne is optimistic about his future and is hoping to find a full-time ride in the Sprint Cup Series in time for the start of the 2012 season.
Other drivers to watch are:
Danica Patrick is returning to stock car racing this weekend. She's scheduled to make an appearance to meet fans tonight at the JR Motorsports merchandise truck. Passes are being sold at the truck until she shows up at 5 p.m. ET tonight.
Reed Sorenson is the points leader and has one win from last week at Road America; his consistency in the series includes six top-5 and 11 top-10 finishes. Does Sorenson have the ability to win a second race this weekend and possibly tonight?
