Two Sprint Cup crew members suspended indefinitely from NASCAR.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Aug. 10, 2011) – NASCAR announced Wednesday that it had indefinitely suspended crew members Jerome Frey and Trevor Lysne, both of whom worked with the #42 Earnhardt-Ganassi NASCAR Sprint Cup Series team, for violating Sections 12-1 (actions detrimental to stock car racing) and 19 (violation of the substance abuse policy) of the 2011 NASCAR rule book.

The announcement came after Frey and Lysne were arraigned in Mecklenburg, N.C. for drug charges stemming from their arrest Tuesday in which Huntersville, NC., police seized more than 10 pounds of marijuana.

Mechanic Jerome David Frey, 27 was charged with trafficking marijuana and possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana. Front-tire changer Trevor L. Lysne, 40, was charged with trafficking marijuana, possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana and maintaining a dwelling to distribute marijuana.

Both men were released on bond.

Car owner Chip Ganassi issued a statement saying, "I am extremely disappinted with the news that we received about two of our crew members. We have a zero tolerance policy in this organization and effective immediately both individuals' employment has been terminated."
