Marco Simoncelli loses life in the Malaysian Grand Prix

A crash brutally ended the life of an up and coming MotoGP (Moto Grand Prix) Superstar on Sunday October 23, 2011. Marco Simoncelli was involved in a scary and gruesome collision in Malaysian's Grand Prix at the Sepang International Circuit.
On the second lap, four minutes into the race, as he turned the corner, Simoncelli lost control of his Honda, falling from his bike. He collided with competitors Colin Edwards of the U.S. and Valentino Rossi of Italy, one of whom drove right into him (Simoncelli), his helmet came off and he was left lying flat on the ground; he sustained severe injuries to the head, neck and chest that caused his death.
Simoncelli, a 24 year old Italian was a gifted racer with insurmountable raw talent that would have led to an long prosperous career in the world of motorcycle racing.
He sported an afro with pride. His talent was never questioned for he poured his heart and soul into his racing career.
Born on January 20th in 1987, Simoncelli spent the last ten years of his life racing; he started in the 125cc class before moving up to the 250cc class in 2006. He won the 250cc World Championship with Gilera in 2008. After four years in the intermediate class, he stepped up to the MotoGP class with the Honda Gresini Team.
This death has affected fans of MotoGP greatly.
"Today is one of the saddest days of my presidency," said Gianni Petrucci, president of Italian sport's governing body CONI. "The tragic death of Marco Simoncelli has deeply upset and shaken me. Life is sacred and you can't die at the age of 24 for a race."
At an unknown earlier date, when Simoncelli answered someone who asked if he was afraid to die in a motorcycle accident, he answered, "No. You live more for five minutes going fast on a bike like that, than other people do in all of their life."
