Michael Waltrip Racing’s future is becoming clearer as the days go by. An official announcement is scheduled for Friday morning at Texas Motor Speedway but numerous reports, including SPEED.com, have confirmed that MWR has inked a deal with Mark Martin.

According to the reports, Martin will be driving the No. 00 on a partial schedule, leaving David Reutimann without a ride. Team owner Michael Waltrip intends to drive the car at the four restrictor-plate races, his known forte.

Waltrip’s stable of drivers will now consist of Martin, Clint Bowyer and current driver Martin Truex Jr. along with the Nationwide team of Travis Pastrana, slated to make his debut in 2012.

Reutimann would not comment on his status with MWR, simply stating to reporters, “Talk to Michael.”

Martin is in the final year of his contract with Hendrick Motorsports, driving the No. 5 GoDaddy Chevrolet. Replacing Martin next season will be Kasey Kahne.

Martin has been a highly sought-after free agent; rumors have swirled that he would be sharing a ride with Danica Patrick at Stewart-Haas Racing. With an illustrious career spanning over 29 years, Martin has 40 Sprint Cup wins and is currently 19th in the points standings.

MWR has scheduled a press conference for Friday morning, where all details are expected to be announced.
