NASCAR Fantasy Fusion: Doggone Dogleg to be the nemesis?

I think we're heading into another frantic race situation at Phoenix which can only mean nail-biting time with fantasy picks. Judging by the Nationwide race we probably aren't going to see a lot of side by side racing with passing at a premium. The dogleg in the back stretch after Turn 2 is where the give and take and the attempts at passing will most likely take place. And it is bound to get a bit ugly with the championship literary on the line.

I'm going to try to play it safe by making my final fantasy picks based on track position, combined practice speeds and my very unscientific gut. If you have Matt Kenseth I'd definitely go with him. Your next best bet is Tony Stewart. Since I don't have either I'll need to pick from Carl Edwards and Jimmie Johnson and I'm going with Carl Edwards. Marcos Ambrose and A.J. Allmendinger are looking like strong race contenders. Ambrose has a slight edge since he knows how to conserve his brakes and is good on flat tracks, but Allmendinger has really run awesome. I'm tempted to go with Marcos Ambrose and Jeff Burton, but I am bound to get some extra lap lead points if I go with Ambrose and Allmendinger. If you have Paul Menard or David Ragan either should perform well, but Menard would be a better pick. Me, I'm choosing between Bobby Labonte and Regan Smith and I'm going with track position and therefore Smith is my choice.

Have fun watching the race and keep an eye on those fingernails!
