NSCS Pole Report: Gatorade Duel Starting Lineups

Before we get to the Daytona 500, the drivers of the Sprint Cup Series have to get past one more test - the Gatorade Duels. Both races will determine who is actually going to be in the prestigious 500.

Who gets locked into the race? It's a bit confusing between the qualifying today and the Duels on Thursday. The top two positions from today’s qualifying, top-35 in owner points from the 2011 season, past champions, those locked in from today’s qualifying, and finally the go-or-go-homers who finished highest in the Duels. Up for grabs in the Duels is your starting position if you are amongst the drivers already locked into The Great American Race. If you are a go-or-go-homer like Kenny Wallace or Michael Waltrip for example, it's pedal to the medal to race your way in.

The stories are intense and with few spots remaining, this is going to be an exciting afternoon. SPEED's coverage of the Gatorade Duels starts at 1 PM ET on Thursday.
