Justin Lofton, driver of the No. 6 College Complete Chevrolet, along with his pit crew and sponsor made a two-hour drive to Fort Riley, KS in order to brighten the morning of some Army soldiers from the 1st Brigade, 1st Infantry Division.

Lofton began his visits to Fort Riley in 2010 and has been returning every year thereafter. Due to this continuous interaction, he was able to build some friendships with a number of soldiers and kept in touch with them via social media – Facebook and Twitter – when many of them were deployed last year.

The 1st Brigade, 1st Infantry Division soldiers were able to interact with Lofton, his pit crew and sponsor along with getting the opportunity to look inside the No. 6 truck and hauler. There was an American flag presented to Lofton flown in from Kirkuk, Iraq and appreciation certificates were given to the pit crew and sponsor.

In an interview with www.catchfence.com on April 17, Lofton had the following to say about his scheduled trip to Fort Riley: “I am beyond anxious for this week’s visit to Fort Riley. I always enjoy going there and meeting with the soldiers. To have the opportunity to spend time with them and thank them for their service is immeasurable.”
