NSCS Pole Report: Logano wins Pocono pole award

Joey Logano will lead the field to the green flag for tomorrow's Pocono 400 presented by #NASCAR. With a lap of 50.11 seconds, 179.598 mph, Logano's lap is a new track record at the newly repaved Pocono Raceway. Kasey Kahne has held the track record for eight years, with a speed of 172.533 miles per hour. Today, the top 36 cars were faster than that speed.

Qualifying started off with a delay, NASCAR had to clean the track in Turn 1 after the first few cars out were sliding in that area. In an unusual move, NASCAR allowed Scott Riggs to make a second attempt at qualifying after continued attempts to clean the track's surface. Still after his lap, Riggs said, "way slick!" Riggs will start the race in 38th.

Stacy Compton qualified into the 400, making his first Cup start since Daytona of 2003. Compton is a NASCAR team owner for Turn One Racing.
