NASCAR goes road course racing for the first time this season. The Sprint Cup Series heads to Sonoma and the Nationwide Series heads to Road America for some left-and-right action.

Sonoma is one of two road course races on the Sprint Cup schedule (the other is Watkins Glen in August). Road America is one of three road course events in the Nationwide Series (the others are Watkins Glen and Montreal in August).

Since the implementation of double-file restarts, road racing has gained a short-track feel with some serious bumping and banging, and offers some of the most exciting racing all season.

The road course ringers - drivers with a background in road racing brought in to race the Cup and Nationwide events at these tracks - have lost their advantage as more and more series regulars end up in victory lane.

Who'll take the checkered flags this week? Stay tuned.

The Camping World Truck Series is off until Thursday, June 28, at Kentucky.
