Sebastian Vettel set the fastest time during Friday morning's first ever Practice Session 1 of the United States Grand Prix as the cars finally drove from the paddock and onto the Circuit of the Americas.

Vettel set a time of 1:38.125 at the Austin, Texas, track, beating McLaren's Lewis Hamilton with a gap of 1.418. This put the Brit ahead of third runner-up Fernando Alonso, who ran with a gap of 2.212. For a complete list of times for the entire field, you can find it here.

The top-10 finishers in order at this morning's practice are:

Sebastian Vettel (Red Bull), Lewis Hamilton (McLaren), Fernando Alonso (Ferrari), Jenson Button (McLaren), Mark Webber (Red Bull), Felipe Massa (Ferrari), Nico Hulkenberg (Force India), Kamui Kobayashi (Sauber), Nico Rosberg (Mercedes) and Sergio Perez (Sauber).

Turn 19 proved to be one of the trickiest of the day and certainly one to keep an eye on come Sunday along with Turn 1, which is a sheer climb with a blind turn at the top. But Turn 19 was not the only spoiler today. Nico Hulkenberg spun at Turn 1 and later at Turn 13. Webber spun at Turn 8 while Hamilton was forced into the grass in order to avoid the slowing Michael Schumacher (Mercedes).

All in all, it was an exciting practice session simply seeing the cars on the United States circuit for the first time. Practice Session 2 started at 1 p.m. Central Time.
