UNOH DIRTcar Nationals Presented by Summit at Volusia Speedway Park

BARBERVILLE, Fla. - Feb. 11, 2013 - Last season was one of the most competitive in the storied history of the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series.

 A late surge by Donny Schatz allowed him to capture his fifth championship and first since claiming four consecutive from 2006-09.

Schatz was recently selected in the Media Poll as the favorite to repeat for the 2013 campaign, which kicks off this week with the UNOH DIRTcar Nationals Presented by Summit Racing Equipment at Volusia Speedway Park - the fastest half-mile track in the country, where Schatz has collected a World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series leading five wins.

However, seven other full-time Outlaws have earned at least one feature victory at the facility, where the eventual series champion has picked up a victory during four of the last eight years.

WHEN

Friday through Sunday, Feb. 15-17, at Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, Fla. The front gate is scheduled to open at 5 p.m. with hot laps at 6 p.m. each night.

WHERE

Volusia Speedway Park is located at 1500 East State Road 40 near DeLeon Springs, just 15 miles west of Ormond Beach. From I-95, take Exit 268 west on State Rd. 40. From Highway 17, take State Rd 40 and drive five miles east of Barberville. 

ABOUT THE TRACK

Volusia Speedway Park is a semi-banked, half-mile oval. The track record of 12.569 seconds was established by Paul McMahan on Feb. 10, 2011.
