CRA SPRINTS BACK TO PERRIS APRIL 6

Damion Gardner and Nic Faas are expected to shoot it out for the AMSOIL USAC/CRA Sprint car point lead April 6 when the series resumes at Perris (Calif.) Auto Speedway. They are tied for the runner-up position in the standings behind Bryan Clauson, who won Saturday night’s “Sokola Shootout” at the Pas.

Clauson is expected to compete in the April 6 AMSOIL National Sprint Car race at Lawrenceburg (Ind.) Speedway after scoring his ninth victory of 2013 in last Saturday’s Perris main event.

Clauson, of Noblesville, Ind., led the final 23 laps in his Mike Martin Ultimate Offroad/Naquin Precision Earth Moving Maxim after early leader Mike Spencer blew an engine. Gardner and Faas finished second and third, followed by Rickie Gaunt and Cody Williams.

Clauson, also the fastest qualifier, has now won nine USAC features this year, three months ahead of the earliest previous driver to achieve nine in a single season!

2013 AMSOIL USAC/CRA SPRINT CAR STANDINGS: 1-Bryan Clauson-210, 2-Damion Gardner-187, 3-Nic Faas-187, 4-Bud Kaeding-146, 5-Rickie Gaunt-134, 6-R.J. Johnson-127, 7-Ryan Bernal-124, 8-Cody Williams-111, 9-Mike Spencer-104, 10-Charles Davis Jr.-102.
