“Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

It is truly amazing when people are brought into your life and things forever change. No mere words can describe how that statement has rung true since joining forces with the great women of Skirts and Scuffs. One email and three years of growth along with opportunities to wear different hats have afforded me so much more than I could have ever imagined.

I’ve always had the passion to write whether it was poetry, song lyrics or short stories ever since junior high school. Of course, we know that life circumstances change and sometimes you have to put the things that you love on the back burner. This happened to me after becoming a mom at 19 years old and making the decision to join the United States Navy.

However, over the last few years, that spark and passion for writing returned with a vengeance even more so the interest to write about a sport that I’d been following closely since 1997. Initially, I got the distinct honor to write for a great historical based motorsports site named Racer’s Reunion then that opened the door to my opportunity of joining the Skirts and Scuffs team.

Never in my wildest imagination did I think I would be writing, editing or even serving as a media representative in this unique industry. Even more than that, I was blessed to develop a strong bond with some remarkable and trendsetting women, especially Founder/Editor-in-Chief Katy Lindamood, Lead Editor Rebecca Kivak and Senior Editor Amanda Ebersole. These three women became much more than colleagues, they became close knit family members to me.

There are a host of other women who work or have worked for the site, too many to name personally, that I truly admire and have enjoyed interacting with throughout my tenure. As I prepare for my departure from the everyday operations of the site, I look forward to the next exciting chapter in my life. I will always be grateful for playing a small part in a phenomenal entity.

I encourage you to continue supporting these great women as I plan to do as well. Although, I can’t disclose where I will be heading at this time, you can follow me on Twitter @UniqueHiram for future updates.

Until next time … Gear Up, Strap In For A Thrillin’ Ride!
