A qualifying lap of almost 204 miles per hour earned Joey Logano the top starting spot for this weekend’s Sprint Cup race at Michigan International Speedway. In fact, Logano ran the ninth-fastest pole lap in NSCS history (203.949mph) and snagged his first pole of the 2013 season with his 35.303-second lap.

Kurt Busch lines up second for the 44th Annual Pure Michigan 400, with Jimmie Johnson, Mark Martin and Jeff Burton rounding out the top five starting spots. The No. 48 team had a glitch when their car had a flat right front tire going through tech, but it passed the second time through inspection.

Several drivers are subbing for the regulars at the two-mile track. Austin Dillon, driving the No. 14 Mobil 1/ Bass Pro Shops Chevy for the recuperating Tony Stewart, starts the race 27th. Johnny Sauter lines up 41st in the No. 98 for Michael McDowell, who is running the Nationwide race at Mid-Ohio this weekend. Watch for Brendan Gaughan, driving his first Sprint Cup start of the season in the No. 51 car, and lining up 39th.

The Pure Michigan 400 airs on ESPN at 1 p.m. on Sunday with green flag slated for 1:16 p.m.
