Travel Tips: Richmond International Raceway – April 24-25, 2015

Richmond International Raceway in Virginia hosts NASCAR’s Sprint Cup and Xfinity Series this weekend, Friday and Saturday, April 24-25, for the Toyota Owners 400 and the ToyotaCare 250, respectively.

Fans in town early can catch a special event at a nearby track. Denny Hamlin’s Short Track Showdown takes place this year at South Boston Speedway on Thursday, April 23. The charity race features some of the top NASCAR drivers against some of the best Late Model drivers in the region, with proceeds benefiting the Denny Hamlin Foundation. Among the drivers scheduled to participate: Hamlin, David Ragan, Jeb Burton, Timothy Peters, Hermie Sadler, Chase Elliott and Gray Gaulding. Tickets for the race are $25. The Track Takeover returns to RIR on Saturday, April 25. All ticket holders get exclusive access to the track itself just hours before the green flag, with the opportunity to get your picture taken with the No. 88 showcar and test your skills in the No. 88 simulator; Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Chase Elliott will also join the festivities for a question-and-answer session. Saturday, April 25 –
