Fast Facts: NASCAR Next driver John Hunter Nemechek

NASCAR Next member John Hunter Nemechek has spent more than a decade in motorsports as a driver, but racing runs in his blood. Learn more about this young driver, who is finally old enough to compete full-time in the Camping World Truck Series, in this week’s Fast Facts.
  • John Hunter Nemechek was born June 11, 1997 in Mooresville, NC. His father is NASCAR driver/team owner Joe Nemechek; he is named after his late uncle John, who was killed in a Craftsman (now Camping World) Truck Series event earlier in 1997 at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
  • Nemechek began racing at age 5 in quarter midgets, go-karts and dirt bike competition. In 2010, he moved into stock cars, competing in the Allison Legacy Series; he won the series championship in 2012.
  • In 2012, Nemechek also competed in Late Models and Super Late Models, racing in the Champion Racing Association (CRA) Super Series and the America Speed Association (ASA) Midwest Tour. In 2013 he raced in the Southern Super Series and selected NASCAR K&N Pro Series East races; later that year, he made his Truck Series debut.
  • In 2014, in addition to competing in 10 Truck Series race and splitting seat time with his father, Nemechek won the prestigious Late Model race, the Snowball Derby.
