Spencer Gallagher leads the field for the Striping Technology 350 at Texas Motor Speedway

Spencer Gallagher crowed with joy over the radio after edging out Daniel Hemric by a mere 0.217 mph in time trials at Texas Motor Speedway. The 26-year-old Las Vegas native earned the second Keystone Light pole of his career in the Striping Technology 350.

Hemric’s lap of 29.985 lagged behind the Allegiant Travel Chevy by 0.036 seconds. He’ll start second in the Blue Gate Bank Ford.

William Byron rolls off third in his Liberty University Tundra. His lap of 30.011 seconds was just 0.001 faster than Matt Tifft. Tifft, whose season was interrupted by brain surgery to remove a brain tumor, piloted the No. 11 Waste Connections Inc./BrainGear Toyota to a fourth-place starting position.

Rounding out the top five, Tyler Reddick in the Cooper Standard Ford trailed Tifft by 0.22 seconds.
