Trackin’ Trucks: Kyle Busch Wins at Martinsville

Kyle Busch earned his 54th NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series victory on Saturday at Martinsville Speedway, bringing his overall career total to 201 across the top three national series.

“These guys worked really really hard this weekend,” Busch said. “We unloaded and I didn’t like where we were at. We made wholesale changes to this thing all weekend long and just tried to keep improving.”

“We kept trying to make it turn the center better, that’s where it’s at at Martinsville. You gotta be able to turn the center without getting too loose in and too loose off.”

The TruNorth Global 250 went into overtime after Tyler Dippel and Spencer Davis brought out the sixth caution of the day with eight laps remaining.

Busch led Ben Rhodes to the line and took the lead with three laps remaining, before a spin by the No. 44 of Reid Wilson on the final lap froze the 32-car field, resulting in the driver of the No. 54 being declared the winner.

Rhodes finished second, followed by Brett Moffitt, Ross Chastain, and Stewart Friesen.

Myatt Snider finished sixth, Grant Enfinger seventh, Matt Crafton eighth, Johnny Sauter finished in the ninth position, while Bubba Wallace rounded out the top 10.

Sauter recovered nicely after suffering a right rear flat, forcing the ThorSport Racing driver to pit under green before a spin by rookie Daniel Sasnett brought out the caution.

Sasnett finished 30th in his series debut.

A Look Ahead 

The NGOTS return on Friday, March 29th to Texas Motor Speedway for the fifth race of the season.

Sauter won at the track one year ago, ahead of Stewart Friesen. Can Sauter secure his first victory of 2019 or will Friesen earn his first series victory?
