Kyle Busch claimed back-to-back victories with his win at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Friday night.
The Kyle Busch Motorsports driver swept the stages during the Gander Outdoors Truck Series Strat 200, leading 110 of 134 laps.
Busch dominated the event, but he fought with handling issues on his No. 51 Toyota Tundra most of the weekend before winning at his hometown track.
“We fought it in practice a little bit,” Busch said, “We worked on it an awful lot to make it better. (Crew chief) Rudy (Fugle) and these guys did an amazing job on this Cessna Tundra. It was really, really fast. Just kept working on it all night long – every pit stop."
“It’s cool to win here in your hometown, being in Las Vegas, starting off a triple weekend. Hopefully, we can keep it going.”
Runner-up Brett Moffitt made a late charge on Busch, but lost the momentum when his No. 24 Chevrolet got loose. Moffitt made a comeback after suffering a bad pit stop at the end of Stage 1, as well as having to pit again for a vibration.
The NGOTS drivers immediately went three-wide at the start of the event. On Lap 7 that proved to be costly as Todd Gilliland, Sheldon Creed, and Ryan Reed went through Turn 4.
The No. 2 of Creed got loose and made slight contact with Reed, but collected Cory Roper and veteran Matt Crafton in the process.
Roper sustained heavy damage and finished in the 24th position, while Crafton battled back to finish third.
Stewart Friesen and Harrison Burton rounded out the top 5. Creed finished sixth, Todd Gilliland seventh, Johnny Sauter eighth, Reed ninth, and Ross Chastain 10th.
A Look Ahead
The NASCAR Gander Outdoors take a two week break before returning to Martinsville Speedway on Saturday, March 23rd.
Points leader Grant Enfinger is looking for his first win of the season at the half-mile track. Enfinger extended his points lead at Las Vegas despite having to start in the back for an engine change.
Enfinger leads Burton by six points and Austin Hill by nine points.
Catch the NGOTS when they return to the Paper Clip on March 23, 2019 at 2 p.m/ET on Fox Sports 1.
