Roush Fenway Racing driver Ryan Newman is awake and alert after sustaining undisclosed injuries in Monday's Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway.

Newman, whose car spun and went airborne on the final lap of the 62nd running of the Great American Race, is being treated at Halifax Medical Center in Daytona Beach, Florida.

The 42-year-old driver is speaking with family and doctors as of Tuesday afternoon.
