Kyle Busch earned his third win of the Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series season on Saturday night. He held off rookie and teammate Christian Eckes for the victory at Texas Motor Speedway.

The win is Busch’s fifth at the 1.5-mile track and 59th in the series. Busch led 72 of 167 laps while holding off Eckes by .777 seconds for the victory.

“What can you say about Christian [Eckes], he’s getting better each and every week, every time out getting that chemistry more and more with [his crew chief] Rudy Fugle and those guys,” Busch said. “So, real proud, but wanted to make sure we went out on a win.”

Matt Crafton finished third, earning the ThorSport Racing driver his third top-five finish of the season, followed by Stewart Friesen and Brett Moffitt.

Last week’s winner Sheldon Creed finished in the 16th position. Creed had a right-rear tire go down early in the race, which forced the driver to make an unscheduled stop during Stage 1.

Todd Gilliland and Ben Rhodes made contact with 15 laps to go, which brought out the final caution of the night. Gilliland finished in 27th place, while Rhodes rallied to finish ninth.

Austin Hill leads the point standings over Ben Rhodes by 22 points. Hill saw his lead cut nearly in half after a blown engine resulted in a DNF.

A Look Ahead

The Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series stars head to Kansas Speedway on Friday, July 24th.

Rhodes finished second to Ross Chastain a year ago at Kansas. Can the driver of the No. 99 Ford earn his first win of the season and secure his place in the playoffs?

Gilliland is ninth in the standings, 66 points behind Hill and 14 points behind Tyler Ankrum, who sits in eighth (the cutoff position).

Meanwhile, Texas favorite Sauter dropped four positions in the standings after his blown engine took him out of contention after 62 laps. He is now 35 points behind the cutoff line with four races to go in the regular season.
