Zane Smith earned his second Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series victory on Friday evening, leading 50 of 200 laps during the KDI Office Technology 200 at Dover International Speedway.
Smith pulled away on the final restart after a spin from Stewart Friesen brought out a caution on Lap 194. Smith scored his second victory in three races with his first series start at the "Monster Mile".
“I love this place,” Smith told FS1. “I think we all know I suck on restarts, but I picked a good time to have a good one.”
In addition, the GMS Racing driver earned a $50,000 bonus for winning the second of three installments of the Series' Triple Truck Challenge. Sheldon Creed got the bonus with last week’s victory at the Daytona Road Course.
Matt Crafton finished second, Brett Moffitt came in third, while Todd Gilliland and Ben Rhodes rounded out the top five.
A Look Ahead
The Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series heads to the World Wide Technology Raceway at Gateway in Madison, Illinois, just across the Mississippi from St. Louis on August 30th.
Three races remain before the series playoffs begin. Todd Gilliland sits on the bubble in 10th, while Derek Kraus sits below the cutoff by four points.
Johnny Sauter is in a must-win situation to make the series playoffs. He is 71 points behind 10th, and 208 away from Austin Hill, who is the series leader.
