In 2021, 23XI Racing will partner with Toyota and Joe Gibbs Racing. The newly formed NASCAR Cup Series team is co-owned by Denny Hamlin and Michael Jordan.

The team's engines, technology, data and technical assistance will be provided by Toyota Racing Development while their chassis and other services will be purchased from Joe Gibbs Racing.

“My main goal for 23XI Racing is to be competitive for a championship as soon as possible,” Jordan said. “Our partnership with Toyota and Joe Gibbs Racing gives us the equipment, resources and expertise to do it.”

For the past 13 years, Denny Hamlin has been competing in a Toyota with Joe Gibbs Racing. He has earned 41 of his 44 victories with the manufacturer. Three of those wins were at the Daytona 500 and two at the Southern 500.

Ed Laukes, Group Vice President of Toyota Division Marketing at Toyota Motor North America said, “Denny has been a valuable part of the Toyota family for over a decade, and we are happy to support him as he takes the next step into NASCAR team ownership."

JGR team owner Joe Gibbs is thrilled and looks forward to working with his driver and Michael Jordan next season. “We’re excited to have the opportunity to provide resources to this new Toyota team to help them get started,” he said.

“We can remember being in a similar position nearly three decades ago, and we were fortunate to have a similar agreement that helped us in the beginning. We’re happy for Denny to realize his dream of ownership, and certainly it’s a big deal for NASCAR to have someone with the respect and stature of Michael Jordan enter our sport.”
