Jordan and Hamlin Officially Announce NASCAR Cup Series Team Name and Car Number
The single-car NASCAR Cup Series team co-owned by Michael Jordan and Denny Hamlin will be known as 23Xl Racing. The name, which is pronounced "twenty-three eleven," stems from the numbers Jordan and Hamlin used in their respective careers.
The team will also carry the No. 23 on the car, which will be driven by Bubba Wallace.
“Michael and I have a shared vision for this team,” Hamlin said in a statement, “so it’s exciting to see it reflected in the team name and on the race car with the iconic number 23 that Michael made famous.”
The organization’s manufacturer affiliation and sponsorship will be announced at a later date. 23Xl Racing will make its debut during Daytona Speedweeks in February 2021.
