John Hunter Nemechek dominated on Saturday at Richmond Raceway while holding off his boss Kyle Busch to earn his second Camping World Truck Series victory of the season.

Nemechek led the final 17 laps of the Toyota Care 250 to secure the fourth victory in a row for Kyle Busch Motorsports. Nemechek started the feature at Las Vegas and concluded at Richmond, while Busch won at Atlanta and Martin Truex Jr. earned his first series victory at Bristol on Dirt.

“Before I walked out of the motorhome, (my wife) Taylor said ‘You brought me home a trophy from Vegas, now this is (our newborn daughter) Aspen’s first race, so bring her one,” John Hunter Nemechek said. “We did it.”

Nemechek led three times for a total of 114 laps at the .75-mile track.

Tyler Ankrum finished third to break up the KBM 1-2-3 finish. Chandler Smith and Johnny Sauter rounded out the top five.

Todd Gilliland finished sixth, Ben Rhodes seventh, while Grant Enfinger, Sam Mayer, and Austin Hill rounded out the top-10 finishers.

There were 10 cautions throughout the race despite the calm first half; three of the cautions involved Jennifer Jo Cobb. She finished 38th after failing to meet minimum speed under the damaged vehicle policy.

Ryan Reed finished in the 29th position in his first series start since 2019.

A Look Ahead

The Camping World Truck Series heads to Kansas Speedway on May 1, 2021, where both Austin Hill and Matt Crafton earned victories last season during a doubleheader weekend.

Nemechek extended his point lead over Ben Rhodes by 14 points, bringing his total lead over the two-time winner this season to 20 points. Sheldon Creed is third, 54 points behind.

Johnny Sauter sits in 10th after six races into the season, while Carson Hocevar is 11th, two points behind Sauter.
