Pocono DQ Surprises

Denny Hamlin won Pocono today. Or so we thought. Kyle Busch came in second.  But yet he didn't.

Both have been disqualified in an "appealable offense," according to NASCAR.

This makes the No. 9 of Chase Elliott the official winner today, while Tyler Reddick moves up to second, Daniel Suarez third, Christopher Bell fourth, and Kyle Larson rounds out the top five.

A Cup race winner has not been DQ'ed in a very, very long time in modern NASCAR history.

The No, 11 (Hamlin) and the No. 18 (KyBusch) are being brought back to the R&D Center for further inspection, with any future penalties expected early next week.  Early reports indicate there is an issue with some material found in the fascia under the wrap when it was removed for inspection, on both vehicles.

According to Bob Pockrass of Fox Sports: "The last Cup DQ was April 17, 1960 at Wilson Speedway when Emanual Zervakes won but was DQ'd for an oversized gas tank and Joe Weatherly was awarded the victory."

Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.
