Kyle Busch Issues Statement Apologizing for Mexican Law Violation

Brand-new RCR No. 8 driver Kyle Busch was caught with a handgun and hollow-tip ammunition in his luggage at Cancun Airport during a vacation to Mexico.  He was arrested after authorities found the weapon, and later sentenced to 3 ½ years in prison.

While Busch was at the airport, the authorities were alerted of the possibility that he had a gun. As his bag was searched, it was disclosed that there was an unlicensed firearm, along with a magazine loaded with hollow-point bullets.  The National Guard arrested Busch after this discovery.

Following the arrest, it has been reported that an investigation was opened, and the arrest was found to be legitimate.  Two days after the arrest, a Mexican police agent brought Kyle Busch to a local judge, who sentenced him to a fine of around 27,000 pesos (a little over $1000 US dollars) and  3 ½ years in prison.  There is no word on how or where the prison sentence will be served.
