Daniel Hemric earned his first career Craftsman Truck Series victory on Friday night at Martinsville Speedway, holding off Tyler Ankrum and withstanding challenges from other series stars and making the most of their bad luck.

Hemric led the last four laps of the Boys and Girls Club of the Blue Ridge 200, but the 34-year old had the victory in his sights weeks before the event was to take place when he began practicing doing back flips.

“It’s a funny thing because my wife asked me a couple weeks ago if I was not too old to do it.” Hemric said of his signature back flip celebratory move, “I practiced once last week in the backyard and did a back flip on solid ground.

“I thought, ‘The old man’s still got it,’ and I proved that tonight.”

Hemric capitalized on the misfortune of Corey Heim. Heim was dominating the event, when he made contact with Kaden Honeycutt and forced the No. 11 Toyota to pit for new tires.

Shortly after Honeycutt inherited the lead from Heim, Honeycutt was taken out by Ty Majeski when the No. 98 Ford got loose right underneath Honeycutt’s Chevrolet Silverado.

That set the field for Ankrum and Hemric to battle it out to the checkered. Hemric was able to get his bumper underneath the No. 18 Chevrolet and secure the victory with a 0.544 second margin-of-victory.

In addition to his first series victory, Hemric was the winner of the $50,000 Triple Truck Challenge bonus, which is rewarded to the top finishing series regular.

A Look Ahead

The Craftsman Truck Series returns on Friday, April 11, 2025, at Bristol Motor Speedway.

Heim holds the series standings lead by 20 points over Majeski and 36 points ahead of Chandler Smith.

Christian Eckes won the spring event at Bristol one year ago. Who will win this year’s event?

Find out on Friday, April 11th at 7:30 p.m. ET on Fox Sports 1.
