Trackin' Truxks: Carson Hocevar Wins at Kansas

Carson Hocevar battled Craftsman Truck Series regular Layne Riggs in the final laps of the Heart of Health Care 200, surviving contact with Riggs to earn the victory at Kansas Speedway.


Riggs was closing in fast on the No. 7 Spire Motorsports Chevrolet and got to the inside quarter panel of Hocevar, sending both Riggs and Hocevar sliding into the wall. Both drivers were able to save their trucks and continue to the checkered flag.

"I just thought I'd make it entertaining," Hocevar explained on the frontstretch. “That 34 truck (Riggs) was super, super good. This truck was really good on the short runs — I didn’t think he would get to us for how far back he was, but he was super good.

“Yeah, it’s been a while since I’ve been in a finish like that where it’s been all out there. So credit to him. I know he was going for everything there.”

However, Riggs and his No. 34 team were disqualified during post-race inspection for a truck bed violation. As a result, William Byron was credited with second, while Giovanni Ruggiero, Corey Heim, and Stewart Friesen rounded out the top five finishers.

Heim overcame numerous issues on Saturday night, including an air gun breaking during a pit stop and an improper restart violation, to earn his sixth top-five of the 2025 season.

“Started out with that pit gun breaking — no fault to my pit crew there,” Heim said. “They did an awesome job all night. It seemed like a situational kind of deal there and then caught on the exact wrong time on the green-flag cycle.

“Had to take the wave and start from the back again and got out of line for a penalty on my part. A roller coaster kind of day today.”

A Look Ahead

The Craftsman Truck Series head to North Wilkesboro Speedway next Saturday, May 17th.

Heim remains the series points leader over Chandler Smith by 64 points, while two-time series champion Ben Rhodes leads Friesen by nine points in the battle for the last playoff position.
