Stewart Friesen and Halmar Friesen Racing have elected not to pursue a medical waiver for Friesen to remain eligible for the 2025 Craftsman Truck Series championship.

Friesen was injured during a dirt-track crash on July 28th at Autodrome Drummond. He missed last weekend’s NCTS event at Watkins Glen International and is due to miss the race at Richmond Raceway on Friday, August 15th.

“I want to express how proud I am of Stewart and the team for working hard and earning a playoff spot,” HFR Owner, Chris Larsen, said in a statement.

“We decided to withdraw a medical waiver for Stewart, as it’s become apparent Stewart cannot compete for the championship.

“Stewart is the heart and soul of the team, and we can’t wait to get him back in the 52.”

Friesen earned a playoff berth with his win at Michigan International Speedway on June 7, 2025. Relinquishing his playoff position will allow for an additional driver to earn their way into the post-season playoffs. There are two slots available to be filled this weekend during the regular season finale.

Kaden Honeycutt, who was recently let go by Niece Motorsports after informing the team of his departure at season’s end, will drive the No. 52 and compete for an owner's championship.

“Stew got us here, and we are excited to compete for the championship with Kaden Honeycutt driving and closing the deal for himself, our team and Stew,” Larsen said.
