NASCAR Cup Champion Kyle Busch Dies at 41
When NASCAR fans woke up this morning, we had no idea that one of the most talented drivers to ever grace any type of track would be taken from us. It started with a message on the Kyle Busch Facebook page saying he had experienced
a severe illness, was being hospitalized, and wouldn't be able to compete at Charlotte Motor Speedway this weekend.
By late afternoon, the tragic announcement that a generational talent that fans like Rowdy Nation loved, while others loved to hate, would never strap into a race car ever again. While I couldn't quite process it, all I could think about was that just last Friday I got to see Busch earn his record 69th NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series win at Dover Motor Speedway. Adding those wins to his 102 NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series victories and 63 NASCAR Cup Series wins, Busch earned more combined national series victories (234) than any other driver.
During the post-race interview, he gave the fans a dose of his patented half-joking, half-antagonizing wit.

"I’m sure it (the No. 7 car) looked great out front, leading the race. And it wasn’t just Kyle Larson doing it. Feels good to have
another Kyle able to do it and put ourselves in Victory Lane."
Later, in the interview on the frontstretch, FOX reporter Amanda Busick asked Busch, "Why do these moments never get old?" He replied, "Because you never know when the last one is."

Those words are particularly haunting as we come to terms with this tremendous loss.
Busch was 41, and is survived by his wife Samantha, son Brexton, 11, daughter Lennix, 4, father Tom Busch, mother Gaye Busch and his brother and NASCAR champion Kurt Busch.
We will update this story as additional news becomes available.
