Layne Riggs earned his seventh Craftsman Truck Series victory of the season on Friday night at Charlotte Motor Speedway, passing Kaden Honeycutt in the closing laps to take the Ecosave 200 checkered flag.

Riggs is now 17 points behind Honeycutt in the Chase standings with four races to go before the champion is crowned.

“That was a hell of a battle there at the end with me and the 11 (Honeycutt),” Riggs said. “That was a lot of fun.

“I think I had to pass the 11 three or four times (after losing spots in the pits). We‘ve got to still work on pit road. That was our weakness still, but I kept driving to the front.”

After Riggs went by Honeycutt for the lead, he held off Christian Eckes with a 0.596 margin-of-victory. Honeycutt finished third after battling with Riggs for majority of the race. Riggs scored the Stage 1 victory then came in second in Stage 2 to Honeycutt.

There was a red flag for a multi-truck accident on Lap 118 involving Daniel Dye, Rajah Caruth, and Connor Mosack, among others.

Bayley Currey finished fourth, with Chandler Smith rounding out the top five.

Daniel Hemric finished sixth, Landen Lewis seventh, while Andrés Pérez, Tyler Ankrum and Justin Haley completed the top 10.

A Look Ahead Into The Chase

The Craftsman Truck Series heads to Phoenix Raceway next weekend.

Honeycutt and Riggs battle for the points lead, while Smith and Eckes follow in third and fourth place. Smith is 77 points behind the Chase leader, while Eckes is 88 points behind.
