Pair of Sprintcar races featuring Tony Stewart postponed
The Scott Darley $50,000 at Tyrepower Parramatta City Raceway in Sydney, Australia, has been postponed due to rain. The two-night event featuring NASCAR Sprint Cup owner/driver Tony Stewart will be held Monday and Tuesday nights.
The memorial race was originally scheduled to take place Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 2-3, but was postponed to Sunday and Monday because of inclement weather. Another rainstorm on Sunday pushed back the opening night to Monday, followed by the final on Tuesday.
Stewart's participation in the Scott Darley $50,000 will cap off a four-race stint by the two-time NASCAR Sprint Cup champion at Tyrepower Parramatta City Raceway during the holidays.
Stewart finished seventh in the Valvoline Australian Grand Prix on Dec. 27 and fourth at the Hogs Breath Café International on Dec. 29. He is driving the No. 14 Old Spice Sprintcar for Garry Rush Motorsport in all four races.
On Monday and Tuesday, Stewart will be joined by four-time World of Outlaws Champion Donny Schatz, who drives for Stewart in World of Outlaws. Schatz claimed victory in the Valvoline Australian Grand Prix.
Also competing in the Scott Darley race will be All Star Series Champion Tim Schaffer, fellow American Jason Johnson and Australian stars Ian Madsen, winner of the Hogs Breath Café International, Brooke Tatnell, Robbie Farr, Max Dumesny and Ryan Farrell.
