Retaliation: How far is too far?

Back in January, NASCAR announced that it would step back and allow drivers to police themselves more in an effort to get back to grass roots racing.

The idea is an excellent one in theory. After all, fans have been complaining for years that NASCAR no longer has personality, that drivers have become too vanilla and too politically correct -- just flat out boring.

While it’s probably a good move, at least to a point, for NASCAR to back off a little bit, a line has to be drawn somewhere. There has to be a point at which NASCAR steps in, especially when it’s a matter of driver and fan safety.
