Radiator pan problem for some Toyota teams

Several Toyota teams in the Sprint Cup garage were hit by penalties following post-qualifying inspections for the Samsung Mobile 500 at Texas Motor Speedway last week. Members of the No. 13 team of Germain Racing, with driver Max Papis; the No. 47 of JTG Daugherty Racing, whith driver Marcos Ambrose; and the No. 00 and No. 56 teams of Michael Waltrip Racing, with drivers David Reutimann and Martin Truex Jr. were announced as recipients of penalties by NASCAR on Tuesday.

Robert "Bootie" Barker, crew chief of the No. 13 team, and Frank Kerr, crew chief on the No. 47, have each been fined $75,000 and placed on probation until Dec. 31 for unapproved added weights and an engine system cooling component that was not approved by NASCAR, specifically, a radiator pan. Robert Germain, owner of the No. 13, and Tad Geschickter, owner of the No. 47, were also penalized. Each were stripped of 50 owner points, and drivers Papis and Ambrose each lost 50 driver points for the incident.

Over at MWR, Rodney Childers, crew chief of the No. 00, and Pat Tryson, crew chief of the No. 56, were each fined $25,000 and placed on probation until Dec. 31 for the unapproved pan.
