Bernece Wood -- the mother of Wood Brothers Racing
The No. 21 team of Wood Brothers Racing has been a fixture in NASCAR pretty much since the beginning, but most of the attention the team has garnered over the years has been directed toward its founding fathers Glen and Leonard Wood and drivers who have piloted the No. 21 over the years, most notably David Pearson. One person who often gets overlooked -- the team's unofficial mother, Bernece Wood.
Aside from brother duo and team founders Glen and Leonard Wood, Bernece Wood is the only member of the organization who has been around since its birth 60 years ago.
Bernece's job description with the race team lists her as Museum Curator, but according to her son Eddie Wood, who along with brother Len Wood, now runs the team, his mother is much more than that.
