Sam Hornish Jr. becomes a father for the second time

Sam Hornish Jr. started the new year on a high note: celebrating the birth of his second daughter.

Hornish and his wife Crystal welcomed Eliza Jo Hornish into the world on Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2010. The baby weighed 7 pounds, 15 ounces and measured 20.5 inches long. Mother and child were said to be doing well after the birth.

The couple were married on June 5, 2004. Hornish announced Crystal's pregnancy in July at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Their first child, daughter Addison, will turn 3 on Feb. 4.

The birth is the latest in a NASCAR baby boom. During the 2010 season, Elliott Sadler, Carl Edwards, Jimmie Johnson, Juan Pablo Montoya, Jeff Gordon and Ryan Newman welcomed new additions to their families. Hornish joined Jamie McMurray and SPEED journalist Wendy Venturini in welcoming babies during the off-season.

Eliza's birth brings a break in the baby boom - for now. Matt Kenseth and his wife Katie are expecting in February.

Skirts and Scuffs congratulates Sam and Crystal on their new addition!
