A Twitter Guide to NASCAR Giveaways

Last week, I wrote an article called , A NASCAR Guide to Twitter, which included a top 10 list of who to follow in the NASCAR community on the popular social media site, Twitter. This week, I will talk about the fun and exciting giveaways many of NASCAR’s top drivers and teams will do as a way to thank the fans.

Much like racing, time is everything when it comes to these fun giveaways.

Drivers like Jeff Gordon (@JeffGordonWeb), Denny Hamlin(@dennyhamlin), and Brad Keselowski(@keselowski) to name a few have come on board with some fun Twitter giveaways this 2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season. Even some NASCAR Sprint Cup teams like to get in on the fun. These include Joe Gibbs Racing (@JoeGibbsRacing), Hendrick Motorsports (@TeamHendrick) and Aflac Racing (@99_AflacRacing), the primary sponsor for Carl Edwards.

Some of the giveaways have included NASCAR tickets to the race of the week (as long as winner is able to attend the race as transportation is not provided), gift baskets full of sponsor swag, and autographed memorabilia. The best prize was from Denny Hamlin. Christmas Day 2010, he gave away an all expenses paid trip to one of his 70,800 followers. The winner ended up choosing to meet the driver of the #11 FedEx Racing Toyota at the Brickyard 400 this past weekend.

The only way to be eligible for these giveaways is to follow drivers and teams on Twitter.

Rules to the Twitter giveaways depend on the host. Jimmie Johnson, (@jimmiejohnson) likes to have his followers retweet (RT), which is when you share the tweet from someone else with all of your followers, a message which he has tweeted. Just a small hint, he normally picks No. 48. His teammate, Jeff Gordon takes a different, more convenient approach. Gordon likes trivia contests. My advice is to brush up on your NASCAR history if you want to win. Keeping in the theme of Hendrick Motorsports, their fun giveaway one night was to tweet a picture of you in your Hendrick gear and they’d pick the best one. Randomness is always fun!

Twitter has definitely given NASCAR drivers and teams a way to thank their fans, the people who support them through thick and thin. Have fun playing in the NASCAR giveaways and Good luck!
