Drive the Track at Iowa Speedway to Combat Hunger

Iowa Speedway Opens its Gates to Fans to Raise Money for Local Charity

Drive the Track started in 2010 as a part of Combat Hunger’s 20th anniversary celebration. Combat Hunger, Iowa 's largest two-day food drive, is a collaborative effort among 190 Central Iowa businesses and schools. The event benefits the Food Bank of Iowa , which supplies food and other materials to hundreds of agencies in 42 Iowa counties.

“We are so pleased to be part of this annual fundraising drive,” says Debb Smith, Director of Iowa Speedway Foundation. “We believe this is an exciting opportunity for race fans to drive their car on the track. We hope this event will generate a lot of smiles from fans and a significant contribution for Combat Hunger.”

Des Moines radio station STAR 102.5 is once again heading up the fundraising efforts for Combat Hunger. STAR 102.5 on-air personalities will be broadcasting live from Iowa Speedway’s infield garage during the Drive the Track and Combat Hunger fundraiser. The event will be held rain or shine.

Star 102.5 also has partnered with Prairie Meadows Racetrack and Casino, Coors Light and Casey’s General Store to host a special benefit concert at Prairie Meadows starting at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 15. Artists Andy Grammer, Gavin DeGraw and Michelle Branch will headline STAR 102.5’s Concert to Combat Hunger. Tickets are just $29 and go on sale Friday, Nov. 14.
