Carl Edwards claimed the pole award for the season finale Ford 400 with a lap of 30.78 seconds (175.467 mph) and will be joined on the front row by Martin Truex Jr.
Edwards claimed the most pole awards (3) in the 2011 season and will receive a $100,000 bonus award.
Championship contender Tony Stewart starts in p.15 (row 8) at the drop of the green flag tomorrow.
