Travel Tips: Atlanta Motor Speedway




Atlanta Motor Speedway “the fastest track in NASCAR” is sure to provide fireworks in the next few days because they will play host to an exciting, triple-header Labor Day race weekend. The NASCAR Camping World Truck (Jeff Worthy’s Grit Chips 200), Nationwide (NRA American Warrior 300) and Sprint Cup (AdvoCare 500) Series will converge upon Hampton, GA for an action-packed, thrilling three nights of racing.

Race Fans, as you know there is a lot to do and see in Atlanta. In this edition of Travel Tips, I've mentioned a few of the many sites that area visitors frequent as well as included a number of links that you can access to view additional venues.

Skirts and Scuffs will be providing live coverage all weekend long from this infamous 1.54-mile, high-banked quad oval track. Be sure to follow Unique Hiram (@UniqueHiram) and Charlotte Bray (@CharNASCAR) all weekend long for live updates as well as great photography from the track.

-Golfing:

Crystal Lake Golf and Country Club is located in Hampton, GA measuring a little at over 7,200 yards designed by Dennis Criffith and Associates. -Fun Parks/Indoor Karting:

Andretti Indoor Karting and Game Atlanta is located in Roswell, GA approximately 50 miles from the speedway. This facility offers a number of activities for adults and children. Some of those activities include superkarting, video game room with over 150 arcade games, 30 feet rock wall, zip line, billiards, bowling and basketball. -Parks/Sites:

Centennial Olympic Park is located in the heart of downtown Atlanta approximately 40 minutes from the speedway. There is estimated to be around 486,000 engraved bricks located throughout the park along with a fountain that measure 82.5 feet long. The "Fountain of Rings" resembles the Olympic ring and it is considered to be the centerpiece of the park. There is a daily fountain show which occurs four times throughout the day at 12:30 p.m., 3:30 p.m., 6:30 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. The park is open daily from 7 a.m. - 11 p.m. (including holidays) unless there is a special event. Georgia Aquarium has been deemed as the “world’s largest aquarium” and is located in downtown Atlanta. It is located approximately 45 minutes from the speedway. The facility includes over 10 million gallons of fresh and marine water along with a large variety of aquatic life. The Ocean Voyager Exhibit is a favorite among visitors because it includes four whale sharks and four manta rays. Stone Mountain Park is comprised of 3,200 acres of land located approximately 50 minutes from the speedway.
